In 2017 weddingsonline held a survey with over 2000 participants about some figures around weddings in Ireland.

 

Average Wedding Budget

The bride and groom spend an average of €24,427 on a wedding, including the honeymoon.
That is an increase of 8% to the previous year.

70% had a religious ceremony
17% a civil ceremony
13% a humanistic wedding

 

Guests

On average couples invited 159 guests

 

Most popular dates

Fridays and Saturdays are still the most popular days to get married.
The summer months of July and August are the high wedding season.
In December most couple get engaged, which lasts an average of 19 months.

 

The average price per guest for a meal is €66

 

Types of funding

To fund the wedding 60% use their own savings, 21% get help from their parents, 17% take out a loan and 2% of couple had their wedding paid entirely by their parents.

 

50% of the couples went over budget.

 

Most popular types of venue

The hotel is still the most popular choice with 66%.
20% of couple chose to celebrate in a country house
9% held the reception in a castle
2.5% chose a restaurant venue
2.5% braved the Irish weather and used a marquee.
